Hello? Hello?

Hey, out there! Is anyone reading this blog? No Comments, so I guess not. Unless I see some Comments, I'll assume nobody's reading, and I'll quit writing.

How to leave a Comment: At the bottom of each post is the line "Posted by Meadowlark..." Click on the word comments at the end of that line. Then you'll need to log in, using your Google user name and password. (And if all this is too much, just send me an email.) Thanks.

I may have to pay Ely a visit. Have been to the Wolf Center and it is a treat. However, we came from Bob's so didn't stay. May have to do a day trip sometime.

Ely's far enough that you might as well stay overnight and enjoy the beautiful evening, late twilight giving over to starry, starry skies. It's far enough away that it keeps out the riff-raff, the mindless tourists with rotten kids. People look good — active, tanned, fit. Boulder.

Those of us who are traveling vicariously with you are loving it so far! But I confess that I'm really looking forward to your arrival in Grand Marais and reports of all you find there. Besides the Java Moose (which in past summers has sold great coffee right out on the dock near the lake as well as at the west end of downtown) and the Angry Trout, probably the best restaurant on the North Shore, there's Sven and Ole's Pizza, a yummy bakery or two and many family restaurants and little dives. And galleries, including the very spiffy Sivertson's on the main drag and little side shops all over. And -- how could I forget -- Joyne's Department Store, the biggest Five and Dime with the tallest stacks of merchandise you'll ever see.

When you get there, walk out on the massive concrete walls just beyond the coast guard station and take in a few good deep whiffs of Lake Superior air for me!

Ahhh...I'm wishing I was on the North Shore right now. Tonight's predicted 50-something degrees may help with my wish.

Please give us an update, Jim...haven't heard from you since July 8th--did you find a 2nd vehicle? What does Menominee think of Lake Superior? How's the wi-fi in Grand Marais?
