Things cost more in Canada, but we got by.
Canadian money looks funny.
Canada is metric, but it isn't difficult to make do.
Canada has a marvelous system of Visitor Information Centres which we used and really appreciated.
Canada is a bilingual country but everybody understood our English.
The Canadian accent is no barrier to communication.
They still have Mounties but they no longer ride horses.

Another thing about Canada - most of their parks have composting toilets. What a great idea!
Canadian currency really does look weird, for those of us who are accustomed to green dollars. They print their money in bright colors, each denomination a different color, and use pictures of people we don't recognize. And they don't have a $1 bill! Instead, they have a $1 coin, which they call the "loonie," because it has a loon on it. The $2 coin is called the "twonie." Both are widely used, unlike the $1 coins in the U.S., which never caught on.
